OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Women's Wrestling team delivered an electrifying performance on Senior Night, securing a hard-fought 27 – 19 victory over Wayland Baptist in their final home dual of the season.
The evening kicked off in dramatic fashion as newcomer and two-time Junior College National Champion, Alexis Miller, made her debut in a Stars singlet. Miller wasted no time showcasing her skills, earning a decisive victory over #14-ranked Malarie Dominguez to give OCU an early lead.
Momentum continued with #15-ranked Sofia Abramson bumping up a weight class and pinning her opponent, extending the Stars' advantage. However, Wayland Baptist fought back, capturing wins in the next two matches to edge ahead, 11-10.
Senior Destiny Campbell turned the tide with a dominant performance, pinning her opponent in just 1:15. Campbell's win sparked a three-match winning streak for the Lady Stars, solidifying their control over the dual.
Freshman Ella Murphy from Tennessee sealed the victory with an impressive win over #10-ranked Audrey Lockhart, capping off a night to remember for the Lady Stars.
The team now shifts their focus to the NWCA National Duals in Iowa, set to take place this Friday and Saturday.
