Game Preview: Men's Soccer at Jarvis Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City men's soccer team come off its biggest victory since 2021 and will look to ride the momentum in the first road game of the season against Jarvis Christian.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Ruben Fahiya shined in his OCU debut after being away from the pitch for 13 months. Fahiya netted two goals both being assisted by Thomas Brulay while having an assist of his own on Keita Kishino's goal.

Marco Alongi joined Fahiya with a pair of goals for himself picking up right where he left off a season ago. In his junior season Alongi strung together a stellar year for the Stars as Alongi lead all members of the OCU squad with nine goals. Alongi broke out onto the scene back on Oct. 3 against Science & Arts by putting together a hat trick to help the leads the Stars on to a 3-2 victory over the Drovers. The Italian native finished the 2023 campaign with nine goals, two assists, 20 points, a .500 SOG% and two game winning goals while hauling in second team all-conference honors.

David Imbert also did not miss a beat in the season-opener scoring the second goal of the game during the Stars stretch of three goals in three minutes. Imbert finished the last year with five goals and a team-high five assists in the 14 games he played in. 

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS…
Jarvis Christian opened its season on Thursday night on the road against Texas Wesleyan and fell short of the Rams by a score of 2-1. Roberto Morales scored the Bulldogs only goal after participating one game last season. Jarvis ranked third in the Red River Athletic Conference goals scored in 2023 with 44 however the Bulldogs suffered the loss of top goal scorer Johan Arevalo. Arturo Gonzalez and Kevin Ochoa return to the squad after tying for second in goals with six.

SERIES HISTORY
The two schools have met just once before coming back in 2021 in Oklahoma City where the Stars earned a 2-0 victory over the Bulldogs.
