YUKON, Okla. - The Oklahoma City Stars softball team saw its 32 game winning streak come to and end in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship game at Yukon High School against Science & Arts.Â
Science & Arts – 3
Oklahoma City Stars — 1
Game Summary
For the sixth consecutive year Science & Arts and Oklahoma City met one another in the championship game of the Sooner Athleic Conference Tournament. Science & Arts wasted no time by plating a run in the top of the first on an RBI double to left center field. The Drovers continued to capitalize and build its lead by adding another run in the third and eventually another insurance run in the seventh.
The Stars struggled to get anything going as Oklahoma City did not see a base runner until the fifth inning as Baileigh Loux provided the teams first hit with no outs in the inning. Amy Crabaugh reached on a walk to give the Stars two on with two out before USAO standout pitcher Sophie Williams found a way out of the jam by striking out Tiffany Paul to end the inning.
Trailing 3-0 entering the bottom of the seventh, Loux once again found her way on base with one out after being hit by a pitch. Down to their final out, Stars freshman Tara Hoehner kept the contest alive with base hit to centerfield where she advanced up to second on a miscue from the Drover center fielder allowing Loux to come to score the first run for OCU. Williams for USAO came right back to strike out Crabaugh clinching the tournament title for the second year in a row.Â
