OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Stars baseball team took two out of three in the final regular season series after splitting the doubleheader at Piedmont High School on Sunday night followed with a win on Monday on the home field.
Oklahoma City 5 - Wayland Baptist 3
OCU scored its five runs on eight hits with one error while Wayland Baptist plated three runs across on three hits to go along with three errors.
After falling behind 2-1 after the two innings of play, the Stars regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a clutch grand slam off the bat of
Barrett Daniel to put OCU in front 5-2.
The Pioneers got one back in the top half of the sixth however that is all Wayland could tally up as
Chad Pike came in seventh to close things down for his 11th save of the year, second-most in the NAIA.
Hunter Lenochan became the only Star with multiple base hits going 2-for-3 with two runs scored to go along with a walk.
Andrew Limbaugh improved to 6-2 on the year with the win on the mound in six innings of work. Limbaugh allowed three runs, two earned on just two hits to go along with four strikeouts.
Wayland Baptist 6 - Oklahoma City 0
In game two, Oklahoma City suffered a shutout loss for just the third time this season while only coming up with three hits in the ball game. Wayland scored its six runs on eight hits while committing three defensive miscues.
Wayland Baptist led 2-0 after the first inning as the game was sent into a two-hour lightning delay until play began at 9:05 PM.
The Pioneers scored two runs in the third and in the fifth to take their 6-0 lead and run away with the victory.
The Oklahoma City bats fell silent in game two mustering up only three hits coming from
Aiden Alexander,
Hunter Lenochan and
Hunter Brown.
The WBU starter Tyson Potts was on his game sitting the Stars down on strikes 14 times in the game, a career-high for Potts and the most OCU has struck out this season.
Jacob Burkett made the start for Oklahoma City going 4.1 innings pitched allowing six runs on seven hits to go along with four strikeouts.
Oklahoma City 10 - Wayland Baptist 7
On senior day Oklahoma City rattled off double-digit runs for the 12th time this season with 10 runs on nine hits and no errors while Wayland scored its seven runs on 10 hits with one error.
For the second straight game in the series Wayland Baptist took the lead in the first inning as Samuel Fabian used a friendly hop in the direction of the shortstop
Chad Pike to get the first run home.
Oklahoma City went on to score 10 unanswered runs highlighted by a three-run homer from
Barrett Daniel in the eighth inning for his ninth home run of the year. Daniel finished the series a heater with two home runs, one being a grand slam along with seven RBIs.
OCU had three of its players come away with multiple hits led by
Aiden Alexander who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Hunter Lenochan put together a 2-for-4 game with two runs scored along with a run batted in as Lenochan extended his hitting to five games and was one of two Stars to have a hit in each game of the series.
Hunter Brown joined Lenochan with a hit in each game as Brown went 1-for-4 in game three with an RBI double.
Connor Ferguson improved to 2-2 after one of his best starts of the season allowing just one run on five hits in a season-high six innings pitched.
Wayland Baptist made things interesting in the ninth trailing 10-1 the Pioneers scored six runs before
Frankie Danel III stopped the bleeding and ended the game with a fly out to right field.

Oklahoma City earned the two seed in the upcoming Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament happening May 3-6.
