Softball sets season-high with 20 hits, completes sweep over Aggies

GOODWELL, Okla. – The Oklahoma City softball saw its winning streak improve to 19 straight games as Shelbey Cornelson delivered a no-hitter in game one before the Stars collected 20 hits in the game two-run rule victory.

The win improves the Stars to 37-2 overall (26-1 in the SAC). The loss drops the Aggies to 15-24 on the year (12-15 in the SAC).

Oklahoma City scored two runs apiece in four of five innings as Kamryn Garvie opened the game with a two-run homer in the first inning, tying the team-high with 12 home runs on the year.

In the third, Emersen Heron got the Stars going again with her team-leading third triple of the season scoring BaileighLoux and Rally Radacy to make it a 4-0 ball game.

Kindalyn Miller and Kaitlyn Jones both drove in runs in the fourth while Tiffany Paul capped off the OCU scoring with a two-RBI base knock to center field that scored Loux and Heron. 

Offensively, OCU was led by Emersen Heron as the only Star with multiple base hits putting together a 3-for-3 game with two RBIs and a run scored.

Garvie, Heron, and Paul each collected two RBIs while the top five hitters in the Stars order all came across to score.

ShelbeyCornelson delivered her third no-hitter of the season in game one on Saturday going five innings and tossing a shutout for the ninth time this year to go along with six strikeouts.

Oklahoma City 12 - Oklahoma Panhandle State 1

The Stars improved to 38-2 overall and 27-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. OPSU fell to 15-24 overall and 12-16 in league play. The victory gave OCU its 19th win in a row, 

Leading just 2-1 entering the fourth, the Stars finally broke the game open with a six-run frame as Amy Crabaugh got the Oklahoma City rally started with a two-RBI base hit which was followed by Tiffany Paul knocking in Crabuagh on her third triple of the season. 

Iliana Ashford, Kamryn Garvie, and Rally Radacy each used RBI singles to help extend the Stars lead to 8-1.

The Stars brought the game into run-rule territory with a four-run sixth inning after rattling off four singles from Kaitlyn Jones, Garvie, Crabaugh, and Paul stretching out to a 12-1 lead.

Emersen Heron started the game in the circle for the Stars and stayed a perfect 17-0 on the year by allowing only one run on five hits in five innings pitched. Brynlee Alsip entered the game in the sixth forcing a groundout and back-to-back flyouts to the infield to wrap up the run-rule win in game two.

Eight hitters in the Stars lineup all collected multiple hits as OCU reached a season-high of 20 hits in a single game. 

Kaitlyn Jones, Baileigh Loux, and Emersen Heron all tallied three hits apiece while Amy Crabuagh and Tiffany Paul led the way with three RBIs each.

Heron finished the day on the offensive side going 3-for-4 with a run scored and extended her hitting streak to seven games.

Rally Radacy went 2-for-4 at the plate moving her hitting streak to six games and scored three times to bring her season run total to 48, second on the team behind Loux at 50.

OCU returns to action on Tuesday, for a midweek out-of-conference doubleheader with Rogers State starting at 3 PM in Claremore, Okla.
