LAS VEGAS -- The Oklahoma City University women's golf team claimed first place at the 36-hole, 10-team The Trailblazer being played at the 5,959-yard, par-72 TPC Summerlin Course. Maddi Kamas took home the individual champion honors by five strokes.

OCU ran away with the team title by 24 strokes over second-place Embry-Riddle University (Ariz.). The Stars got off to a strong start on day one with a 311 team score, 18 strokes ahead the next closest school in UBC Okanagan.

Oklahoma City remained in control on day two with the highest score of 304 to earn its first win of the spring in the opening tournament of the 2024 slate with a total team score of 615, 39 strokes over par.

Maddi Kamas was not only the top golfer for the Stars but was also the top finisher in the field with a first place finish in the 56-player field. She shot a just 3-over par with a 75 on day one and finished round two with an even par of 72. Kamas earned the win by five strokes outdoing Hailey Stevenson from Embry-Riddle (AZ) who shot +8.  

Oklahoma City saw three other Stars golfers finish in the top 10 with Logan Allen coming in tied for third after shooting +11, Allen used a score of 76 to put her back into the top three after shooting a 79 the day before. 

Jamie Welsh came in fifth just 12 strokes over par while Paige Wood finished tied for sixth, one more stroke above Welsh at +13.

To round out the lineup for OCU, Aubrey House tied for 21st overall with a total score of 168. House came back strong on Tuesday after shooting 18 over par on Monday with a six over par performance on Tuesday.

By opening its spring season with a win, OCU claims its second victory of the 2023-24 season.

Oklahoma City will return to the course Mar. 11-12 in the Husky Invitational taking place in Houston, Texas at the Riverbend Country Club.
