HOW IT HAPPENED

Trent Kiraly got the Stars going in their first at-bats with a two-run homer to center field that brought home Hunter Lenochan after the OCU second baseman supplied the first hit of the game with a base hit up the middle.

Oklahoma Wesleyan (9-7) put up five runs in the following frame on just three hits by sending nine batters to the plate, taking advantage of two walks and a hit-by pitch.

Oklahoma City (12-7), per usual refused to be kept down long as the Stars scored in every inning through the sixth which included another home run by Kiraly as well as a homer each by Aiden Van Rensum and Chad Pike

OCU regained the lead for the final time off Kiraly's second home run in a three-run fourth inning which was followed by a five-run fifth inning that included Lenochan driving in Spencer Biggerstaff, Aiden Alexander scoring on a wild pitch and then a three-run home run by Van Rensum to cap it off.

Pike put the nails in the coffin in the seventh with a solo shot to the right field parking lot that was a no-doubter which put the game away for good with the 13th and final run of the day.

GAME NOTES

  • Oklahoma City moved its season record to 12-7 with the win and snapped the Eagles four-game winning streak moving Oklahoma Wesleyan to 9-7 overall.
  • OCU scored its second-highest total with 13 runs just one week after setting its season-high of 18 against Sterling.
  • Trent Kiraly added a pair of home runs on Tuesday to bring his season total to 9, closing in on last year's total of 15. Kiraly was able to bring his average to above .400 while he holds the team lead with 25 RBIs and ties Darian Duhon for the lead in hits.
  • Duhon put together a 2-for-5 day at the plate which makes it five out of the last six games Duhon has totaled multiple hits in. The junior continues to swing it well leading the team with a .415 batting average as well as a team-leading 19 runs scored.
  • Hunter Lenochan extended his hitting streak to seven games bumping up his average to .333 after a three-hit day. Lenochan also scored three times for the Stars making it the seventh straight game he has scored in.

  • Reese Ratchford made his second start of the season on the mound for OCU and after allowing five runs in the second inning, Ratchford settled in and finished the day throwing five innings while giving up six runs on eight hits while striking out four and earning his third win of the season.
  • Austin Worley came up with his best relief appearance this year as he entered the game with the bases loaded in the sixth and got out of the jam, then proceeded to sit down Eagle hitters in order during the seventh, before allowing just one base runner on a hit by pitch in the eighth while striking out two. Worley finished his day throwing 2.1, with three strikeouts without allowing a hit.
