OKLAHOMA CITY – OCU softball opened up its 2024 season on Friday with a 10-0 win in five innings over Missouri Baptist before taking down University of Saint Mary 6-0 in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The 2024 season got off to a rapid start as Oklahoma City (1-0) scored four runs in its first at-bats with Baileigh Loux doubling to right field to bring in Rally Radacy for the first run of the game.
Emersen Heron followed with a sacrifice fly to score Kamryn Garvie followed by back-to-back RBI singles by Tara Hoehner and Amy Crabaugh to finish the big first inning.
Holding a 5-0 lead, OCU scored two in the fourth and three in the fifth as Garvie picked up a two-RBI single to go up 7-0 while Heron finished the game with a single to center that scored the winning run Radacy to complete the run-rule victory over the Spartans in the opening game.
GAME NOTES
- Rally Radacy tallied three hits in four at-bats while driving in one run and scoring three times.
- Radacy had only two games last season where she came up with three hits, Apr. 11 against Langston and May. 17 against Midland.
- Kamryn Garvie, Baileigh Loux, Emersen Heron, and Tara Hoehner all notched multiple base hits with Garvie and Heron hitting two RBIs apiece.
- Shelbey Cornelson made her return to the circle after a stellar 2023 season as the senior made it just another day on the job with five shutout innings allowing just one hit while striking out six.

GAME NOTES
- Oklahoma City earned victory number two in its opening-day double-header as the Stars scored three runs in the third, two in the fifth, and one in the seventh while completing its second straight shutout.
- After having only one three-hit game last year, Kaitlyn Jones put together a 3-for-4 day at the plate with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Radacy and Loux both added multiple hits in game two along with Illiana Ashford who went 2-for-2 at the plate as the freshman got the start at second base and scored three of the six OCU runs.
- Loux had a big game at the plate going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple to her line.
- Emersen Heron got the nod to start in the circle and went five full innings allowing three runs and striking out five while earning the win.
Oklahoma City will be back for two more on Saturday (Feb. 10) in the Southern Collegiate Sports Invitational with game one starting at 12:30 PM against York University, before taking on #10 Midland, who knocked the Stars out of the NAIA Opening Round last season.
