Men's Soccer set to host NAIA Tournament Second Round on Saturday

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Men's Soccer team comes off its first SAC Tournament Title and will host Marian in the NAIA Tournament Second Round at Brian Harvey Field on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2:00 PM.

The Teams

Oklahoma City (13-1-4, 6-1-2 SAC) 

The Stars are back in the NAIA National Tournament for the first time since 2008 after winning the SAC Tournament Championship against MACU 1-0 on Nov. 12. Oklahoma City tabbed six players who received all-conference honors including Shay Prescod winning Newcomer of the Year. Marco Alongi claimed his second career all-conference selection after leading the team in scoring in his second season with Oklahoma City while being named as a first-team forward in the conference. Alongi scored the second-most goals in the goals with 15, three behind the SAC's Player of the Year Mathis Guffroy from Texas Wesleyan

Oklahoma City has yet to be defeated on its home pitch this season with just one tie coming against Bellevue who was ranked fifth in the country at the time. The Stars outscored their opponents 64-13 this season with eight shutouts while Alongi and David Imbert both tallied double-digit goals. 

Marian (14-4-3, 5-2-2 Crossroads)

The Knights of Marian University out of Indiana will see action in its first trip to the NAIA National Tournament after finishing runner-up in the Crossroads Conference Championship game picking up wins in the Bethel University (Ind.) and Huntington University (Ind.) before falling to Spring Arbor University (Mich.) 4-1. 

Foslyn Grant leads the team in scoring with 11 goals on the year in just 10 games played while having three games with multiple goals. The Knights have four players with five or more assists while the keeper Juan Torress has racked up 62 saves during the year.  

About the Tournament
The 66th Annual NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship consists of a 40-team field that begins with the First Round on Thursday, Nov. 21 with the Second Round starting on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 16 campus locations. 

Winners of the 2024 NAIA Men's Soccer Second Round will travel to Kansas for the final site at the Scheels Strykler Sports Complex from December 2-9, 2024, hosted by Visit Wichita.

This year's championship field includes 24 automatic qualifiers and 16 at-large selections. Automatic berths were given to teams that either won their respective conference tournament title, regular-season championship, finished runner-up at the conference tournament as determined by each conference qualification plan
