DALLAS, Texas - The Oklahoma City Women's Basketball team begin 2-0 in SAC play after taking down UNT-Dallas on the road behind a double-double from
Amaya Gordon.

STAR OF THE SHOW: Amaya Gordon led Oklahoma City with her first double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Gordon reaches double-figure scoring for the fourth time in five games while grabbing double-digit rebounds for the second consecutive game. The senior shot an efficient 10-14 from the field while tabbing three steals on the defensive end.
STAT OF THE GAME: Oklahoma City's strong start to the season on the glass continued as the team set a new season-best of 46 rebounds, surpassing its previous high of 45 that was set on Thursday.
FIRST QUARTER: Oklahoma City was outscored 15-13 in the first quarter as freshman
Taryn Cottrell got off to a solid start with four points on 2-of-3 shooting while
Amaya Gordon matched Cotrell with four points of her own while grabbing four rebounds.
SECOND QUARTER: Neither side would take more than a two point lead until the 3:11 mark of the quarter as Gordon scored seven of the final nine OCU points which ignited a 9-0 run to close out the first half.
THIRD QUARTER: OCU continued to find success making its way to a 12 point lead as Gordon kept firing away with three straight field goals to go up 42-30. The Jaguars brought themselves back in it in the final 2:45 of the quarter putting together a 13-2 run that to trail by just two entering the final 10 minutes.
FOURTH QUARTER: UNT-Dallas tied the contest with a basket to open the quarter which stood as the only field goal the Jags would have until 4:30 to play. The Stars used a 9-2 run with strong defensive play to extend the lead back up to 58-49. UNTD could only close the gap to six while OCU reached up to a 13 point lead as sophomore
Jerzie Bryant put up seven points in the quarter while
Raegan Travis tallied six. Bryant and Travis combined for eight of the final 10 points for the Stars to help close things out 68-59.
Game Notes
- Oklahoma City earns its second win in a row moving its overall record to 2-3 while starting conference play 2-0 for the first time since the 2020-21 season.
- OCU dominated inside with 35 points coming in the paint while shooting a season-best 47.3% from the field.
- The Stars defense showed up once again having 10 steals in the contest being the fourth time through five games OCU has had double-digit takeaways.
- Jerzie Bryant put up a season-high 14 points on five rebounds and a season-best four assists.
- Freshman Jerney Bennett continued to be a spark for Oklahoma City reaching double-figure scoring for the fourth consecutive game coming up one rebound shy of another double-double while still tying her season-high of four blocks.
- Raegan Travis tallied a season-high 10 points with six coming in the final quarter while grabbing five rebounds, two coming on the offensive end.
- Taryn Cottrell had a strong day on the boards for the Stars as the freshman hauled in a career-high seven rebounds in just 10 minutes of action.
NEXT TIME OUT: Oklahoma City will play its third game in five day as the team returns back home to Abe Lemons Arena on Monday, Nov. 18 at 6:00 against newly added opponent to the conference College of the Ozarks.
