About the Stars 

  • OCU will open up the 2024 slate with its first game since Dec. 15 where the Stars fell to Oklahoma Wesleyan 71-59 and will play its first conference game in almost a month after defeating Oklahoma Panhandle State 48-37 back on Dec. 9.  
  • Oklahoma City enters with a 2-3 record in Sooner Athletic Conference play earning wins over Central Christian and OPSU while dropping games to John Brown, Langston, and Wayland Baptist.  
  • The Stars will be looking for its first road win of the season after starting 0-5 away from home.  
  • Oklahoma City has been led by senior Amaya Gordon who nearly averages a double-double with 13.4 PPG and 8.2 RPG. Gordon saw her top game come in the season opener against Wiley College where she put up a 22-point and 13 rebound performance in the blowout victory.  
  • The Stars have gotten a strong push from their young core of freshmen Jerzie Bryant and Jazmin Adams. Bryant comes in second in scoring for the Stars at 11.3 PPG as Adams comes in scoring at an 8.3 PPG clip along with 6.9 RPG.  
  • Since missing the first couple games of the season Adams has given the Stars a boost seeing a solid performance against Central Christian with 18 points and 14 rebounds.  

About the Lions 

  • SAGU enters Thursday's game with a 6-4 record and a 3-2 start to SAC play.  
  • The Lions come in on a three-game winning streak while earning their three SAC wins over Texas Wesleyan, Central Christian, and UNT-Dallas while dropping games to Langston and USAO. 
  • SAGU has been led by Agar Farres-Garcia averaging a double-double with 11.8 PPG and 11.0 RPG. Farres-Garcia comes off a big game in the Lions dominant win over Howard Payne University putting up a season-high 21 points to go along with 14 rebounds.  
  • Rylee Lavender follows behind with 11.4 PPG and comes in second on the team in assists with 2.4 APG. After only making two starts in 10 games Lavender has seen big performances in the opening win over Oklahoma Wesleyan with 18 points, nine rebounds, and six assists while seeing her season-high scoring of 22 points come in the 107-32 win over Ecclesia.  

Series History  

  • Oklahoma City comes in holding a large advantage in the all-time series with a 17-2 record over the Lions since first meeting in 2014.  
  • The two schools split the season-series last year as SAGU snapped the Stars 12-game winning streak that went from 2017 to 2022.  

What's Next 

  • Oklahoma City will remain on the road in Texas as the Stars take on UNT-Dallas on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 2 PM in Dallas, Texas.
