About the Stars

  • OCU enters Thursday after beating UNT-Dallas 60-42 on the road last Saturday.
  • Oklahoma City currently holds a 3-4 record in Sooner Athletic Conference play and sits in a three-way tie for seventh place in the conference with Southwestern Christian and Texas Wesleyan.
  • Senior Amaya Gordon leads Oklahoma City in scoring with 13.6 PPG as well as holding the team lead in rebounds with 8.0 RPG. Gordon saw one of her best games come in the win over Central Christian back on Dec. 2 as the senior scored a season-high 23 points to go along with seven rebounds.
  • Gordon's senior counterpart is Ray Osborn who has been a starter in all 13 games so far this season. Osborn finds herself as the team's third-best scorer with 9.9 PPG and enters as one of the Stars best free throw shooters coming off a 9-10 outing from the charity stripe against UNT-Dallas on Saturday.
  • Jerzie Bryant and Jazmin Adams have been a solid freshman duo for OCU throughout the season as Bryant comes off one of her best offensive games with 15 points against the Trailblazers on Saturday while Adams also made her mark against UNT-Dallas scoring 12 points off the bench and collecting a season-high 17 rebounds.
  • Oklahoma City will look to find its groove shooting from deep as the Stars sit last in the conference in three-point percentage and three-pointers made. Despite the struggles from range, Oklahoma City comes in as the fourth-best free-throw shooting team at 72.8% from the line.
  • In the Stars previous game, Oklahoma City solidified a record day from the foul line shooting 30-35 making it the most free throws made in a single game since Nov. 30, 2019.
  • The defense for OCU has gotten better game by game as the Stars allow the fourth least number of points to opponents this season by giving up only 61.1 PPG.

About the Evangels

  • Mid-America Christian comes into Thursday's matchup with a 10-3 overall record while starting 4-3 in conference play.
  • MACU enters after dropping its last two of three games, most recently its matchup with Southwestern Christian on Monday as the Evangels fell 67-77 on the road.
  • Shy Christopher is once again putting together a big season for MACU as the junior has provided 18.6 PPG while scoring 20 or more points in six games this season.
  • Senior Jaci Calavan follows right behind Christopher, creating a fierce duo between the two with 18.4 PPG while shooting 42.4% from the field and 41.4% from beyond the arc. Like Christopher, Calavan has tallied 20 plus points in six games while hitting the 30 mark two times thus far.
  • The pace and scoring of the MACU offense this season have been tough on opponents to stop as the Evangels come in as the number one scoring team in the conference averaging 87.9 PPG while scoring 100 or more points on five separate occasions.

Series History

  • Oklahoma City holds a large advantage over MACU in the all-time series with a 32-3 record against the Evangels dating back to 2007.
  • OCU swept the season series last year with a 73-71 win at home with Amaya Gordon notching a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds while the Stars also edged out an 81-74 victory on the road in the final game of the regular season.

What's Next

  • Oklahoma City will be back on the road making the short trip to Southwestern Christian on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 2 PM in Bethany, Okla.
