Baleigh Garner named coordinator of internal affairs

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University Athletics announces assistant volleyball coach Baleigh Garner as coordinator of internal affairs.

Entering year two as an assistant coach for the OCU volleyball team, Baleigh Garner has taken on a new role to be the coordinator of internal affairs for the athletic department. Oklahoma City Athletic Director Corey Bray says, "I am very excited that Baleigh is transitioning to a full-time administrative role in our department.  Her experience as a student-athlete, coach and her sport administration degree will serve her nicely in her internal operations role with the Stars." Garner will be taking over the daily business operations of the department as well as serving in a game operations role. Garner will be performing budget-related duties while also handling any other internal tasks.

Before coming to OCU, Garner served as the head volleyball coach at Casady high school from 2020-2021. In her role she organized daily practice and weekly game schedules, processed payments for team apparel while staying within budget, coordinated travel arrangements and all other tasks being a head coach brings.

From 2018-2021 Garner worked as an Assistant Manager for ScoreOKC. In this position Garner created biweekly employee schedules while conducting the management of multiple soccer, volleyball, basketball, football and adult recreational team payments and invoices.

In her time at ScoreOKC Garner also worked as a tournament director for the organization. In the role Garner handled the funds of clubs throughout the state of Oklahoma and the surrounding states while also managing the upkeep of the courts and games running on schedule while inputting each game's statistics to OKRVA for proper record keeping and rankings.

Garner's volleyball and business experience does not stop there, going all the way to 2011 Garner has participated in volleyball camp management where she helped put together and run camps at the high school, club and collegiate level. In this role Garner is responsible for managing court schedules and running activities, constructing the development of 2-4 court schedules with drills for 25-50 children and handling player funds.

In college, Garner began her playing career at NCAA Division II University of Central Oklahoma as a defensive specialist. After her freshman year, she transferred to Southwestern Christian University, where she played under current OCU head coach Kristen Coventon. A standout player at SCU as a libero, Garner was named SAC Defensive Player of the Week five times, as well as being named to the SAC All-Conference team. She also holds the all-time dig record at SCU with 1,552.

Garner graduated from Southwestern Christian in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine.
