First Half
OCU opened up the match attack with its first goal coming at the 10-minute mark from Sage Trevino. The Stars set the tone for how things were going to go the rest of the way. Possession changed sides numerous times in the first half and with five minutes to go OCU's Jordan Da Costa made a nice move with a shot from distance and scored. Da Costa's goal put the Stars out in front 2-0 heading into the locker room.
Second Half
After the intermission, it did not take too long for Ottawa to get on the board. A header from multiple Braves found its way into the net to cut the deficit to one for Ottawa. Oklahoma City, trying to hold on to its lead by taking away two shots from the Braves with a save from goalie Danilo Vilani and a shot that was blocked from OCU's defense. Under 20 minutes to go after a shot was blocked Slobodan Novicevic got the ball right back and took a shot and scored, tying the 2-2 at the 71st minute. Neither team could convert as both sides were trying to take the lead. With two minutes to play, looking like a draw is coming the Stars all of a sudden got out on the attack with a chance to score as Jayson Riley passed it up to Bernardo Duarte who took his shot and cashed it in with 65 seconds to go. Duarte's goal sent OCU on to victory, avoiding the tie and giving the Stars their second win in three days.
Games Notes
- Ottawa outshot OCU with 18 shots taken having six on goal. For the Braves they took 14 shots in the second half compared to only taking four in the first half. For the Stars, they took 14 total shots with five on-goal attempts with seven shots coming in each half.
- Bernardo Duarte cashed in his second goal of the season and went back-to-back games with the game-winning goal.
- Senior Jordan Da Costa scored his second goal of the season already surpassing his season total in 2022. Da Costa notched an assist in today's match.
- Sage Trevino, a sophomore from Plano, Texas scored his first goal of the season coming in the 10th minute of the first half. Trevino scored three goals last season and is well on his way to passing that total.
- Today's match was the first-ever meeting between the two schools as OCU starts the series on top.
