Stars finish season at NAIA outdoor track and field championships

Cocking, Jolley, Batts lead OCU contingent

MARION, Ind. - Oklahoma City University wrapped up the 2022-23 NAIA outdoor track and field season championships with three student-athletes competing for national championships. 
  
Louise Cocking, a junior from Derbyshire, East Midlands, England, placed 16th in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 18:05.76 during the day two prelims. Cocking just missed advancing as the top six per heat advanced to the finals, along with the next best four overall.
 
Senior Cailen Jolley, from Pauls Valley, Okla., placed 17th in her day two prelims in a time of 2:17.15. The top two per heat advance along with the next best three overall. 

Daryn Batts, a junior from Dallas, Texas, competed in the shot-put finals with a 14th place finish. She tallied a distance of 13.49m.

The trio were part of the 2023 Sooner Athletic Conference championship. Cocking won the 5,000-meter conference race, Batts was first in the shot put and Jolley finished as runner-up in the 800m SAC race.
