SILVIS, Ill. - Oklahoma City University settled in for fourth after the first round of the NAIA Championships at the TPC at Deere Run. The Stars sank 11 birdies on the Par 71, 5813-yard course.
MaKayla Tyrrell secured a three-way tie for first place and leads OCU after shooting a round of 71 at even. Tyrrell, a freshman from Southlake, Texas putted in three birdies in the first round.
Paige Wood shot a 76 in the first round at five over. Wood, a sophomore from McKinney, Texas had four birdies.
Maddi Kamas and
Natalie Gough hold a tie at seven over after shooting 78 in the first round. Kamas, a sophomore from Kingfisher, Okla., had two birdies and Gough, a senior from Bixby, Okla., had a birdie as well.
Jamie Welsh rounds out the Stars first round shooting a 79 with a birdie.
The Stars tee off tomorrow starting at 12:30.
