OCU knocks off Southwestern Assemblies of God

Stars finish sweep of four-game series vs. Southwestern Assemblies

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rallied for a 5-3 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium. 

Rally Radacy dropped a base hit into shallow center field that brought in the winning runs in the fourth inning of the second game after OCU took the first game 13-1. The Stars, ranked eighth in NAIA softball, moved to 26-6, 13-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. 

Radacy's two-run single came during a three-run Oklahoma City fourth inning. Carlee Mollet socked an RBI base hit into right field to tie the game 3-3. The Stars erased a 3-2 deficit after Southwestern Assemblies of God plated three runs in the top of the fourth. 

Kamryn Garvie launched a double to the left-field wall to give OCU a 2-0 advantage in the first.  

Radacy, a sophomore exercise science major from Lookeba, Okla., delivered a 2-for-3 performance with two RBIs and a run scored. Garvie, a junior university studies major from Edmond, Okla., added a 2-for-3 showing with two runs driven in, while Amy Crabaugh, a senior biomedical sciences major from Edmond, Okla., turned in a 2-for-3 line with a run scored. 

Brynlee Alsip shut down Southwestern Assemblies of God over the final 3.1 innings. Alsip, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., struck out four while earning her second win of the season. Alsip fanned Trista Ford with two runners on to complete the top of the fourth. Lexi Duff pitched the first 3.2 innings of the game. 

In the first game, the Stars exploded for six runs in the second inning. Crabaugh put OCU out in front 2-0 with a two-run single to left. Brooklyn Mason's infield single added two runs, while Tiffany Paul hammered a two-run triple to the right-field wall to give OCU a 6-1 lead. 

Analise Rayburn and Mollet came up with RBI singles in the fifth for the final margin. Garvie supplied a run-scoring base hit in the fourth. 

Mason, a senior from Lone Grove, Okla., studying nursing, went 2-for-3, scored twice and brought home two runs. Crabaugh provided a 2-for-3 showing with a run scored and two RBIs. 

Shelbey Cornelson posted her 14th complete game of the season. Cornelson, a senior exercise major from Tuttle, Okla., improved to 13-2 by striking out eight in five innings. She allowed one run on two hits. 

OCU visits Texas Wesleyan for a 2 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday in Fort Worth, Texas.
