OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City University squeezed by Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday at the Hall of Fame Stadium with a final score of 2-0 as they picked up two runs in the top of the seventh. Stars fell to Benedictine in the latter portion of the Langston Hosea Bell Red Dirt Classic to bring their record to 14-4.
Analise Rayburn doubled home
Jessica Phares to take the lead and
Carlee Mollet tripled home Rayburn two batters later. OCU had just three hits before they broke out for three in the seventh inning alone.
OCU gathered just six hits as Rayburn led with a 2-for-3 performance and an RBI.
Kamryn Garvie, Phares,
Kaitlyn Jones, and Mollet supplied the other Stars hits.
Shelbey Cornelson pitched all seven innings as she picked up nine three strikeouts and allowed four hits.
The Stars fell to Benedictine 1-3 for their second game of the OCU fell behind early as Benedictine scored two in the second and one in the third to take a 3-0 lead. Their lone run came in the fifth as Jones scored off of Mollet's hit.
OCU mustered just three hits in the game. Jones led with a 2-for-3 performance and a run. Mollet went 1-for-2 as she had OCU's only RBI.
Lexi Duff struck out two in four innings of work.
Brynlee Alsip pitched the next two innings and struck out three.
The Stars play Benedictine two more times on Tuesday before they head to Mid-America Christian for a twin bill on Friday.
