OCU moves to seventh in Nichols Intercollegiate

Stars stand in front of six NCAA Division I teams

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Maddi Kamas from Oklahoma City University maintained a spot in the top 15 individually in the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Monday at Sevierville Golf Club. 

The Stars, rated No. 2 in NAIA women's golf, stood seventh among the team standings. Kamas, a sophomore accounting major from Kingfisher, Okla., tied for 14th through 36 holes. 

Oklahoma City posted a 304-317–621 on the par-71, 5,803-yard Highlands course. The Stars held a higher place than six NCAA Division I teams. 

Kamas paced the Stars with a 71-80–151, 11 shots off the individual lead. Kamas rolled in a birdie on the par-5, 410-yard 14th hole.  

OCU's Logan Allen landed tied for 16th with a 74-78–152. Allen, a freshman from Las Vegas majoring in university studies, knocked in a birdie Monday on the par-5, 432-yard No. 3. Paige Wood turned in a 76-77–153, which tied her for 22nd. Wood, a sophomore broadcast journalism major from McKinney, Texas, sank a birdie on the par-3, 155-yard 13th hole. 

MaKayla Tyrrell supplied the Stars with an 83-82–165, while Natalie Gough came up with an 85-82–167 for Oklahoma City. The Stars entered Jamie Welsh (77-82–159) as an individual. 

The tournament wraps up with the third and final round 8 a.m. CDT (9 a.m. EDT) Tuesday at Sevierville Golf Club.
