LANGSTON, Okla. - Oklahoma City University shut out 10-0 and 15-0 Langston in both games on Tuesday. The Stars combined for 25 runs in the two games as they moved to 9-4, 1-0 in SAC play.
Shelbey Cornelson pitched a five inning no hitter for the Stars as she picked up nine strikeouts and allowed just three base runners off two walks and a hit by pitch. Rayburn was the only Star to gain more than one hit in game one as all but one Star had a hit.
The Stars scored their first run on a dropped flyball in the first that scored
Rally Radacy. They added one more in the second on an RBI sac bunt from
Grace Pollon. A single in the third from
Jessica Phares brought it to 3-0. After two runs in the fourth,
Tiffany Paul tripled home
Carlee Mollet in the fourth and Rayburn homered to bring the score to 8-0. Mollet and Paul added the last two RBIs for OCU.
Analise Rayburn went 2-for-3 with a two-run homerun. Paul had two RBIs as she went 1-for-3 with a hit and a run. Mollet and Pollon both had a stat line of one RBI, one hit, and two runs. Phares had one RBI on her one hit and Radacy had an RBI, run and a hit.
In game two, five innings was enough again as the Stars gained three in the first inning as
Kaitlyn Jones doubled and scored on a passed ball to bring the early lead to 3-0. The Stars added one in the second and two in the third as
Amy Crabaugh drove home Jones and Rayburn.
A double by
Kamryn Garvie, a triple by Rayburn and a groundout RBI from Jones brought the score to 12-0.
Shelbey Cornelson pinch hit and RBI singled to make it 13-0. The Stars added two more in the fifth inning to bring the score to 15-0.
Lexi Duff and
Brynlee Alsip combined for seven strikeouts and two hits in the shutout win.
OCU hosts Ottawa (Kan.) and Arkansas Baptist on Friday starting at 2 p.m.
