BOSTON – The Oklahoma City women's rowing team placed second among collegiate crews in the Championship Double at the 2023 Head of the Charles.
On Saturday, the lightweight 2x of senior
Ruthie Lacy and freshman Lucy Oney raced together for the first time in a field of top scullers at the Head of the Charles. Their time of 20:01.64 was good for a 12th place finish in a field of 20 crews and second among all college crews, placing just behind Radcliffe's openweight 2x. Coach Conzemius had this to say about their race: "It was a solid first race for Ruthie and Lucy. They have been continuing to work off of each other in the boat and continue to see their speed increase. I am proud of their race and their perseverance they showed throughout. It is exciting to see them push each other with six months to go until IRAs"
The team will race next in Wichita on Nov. 5 to end their fall season.
