OCU men's soccer drop a heavy offensive battle to John Brown

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City men's soccer team fight hard in a heavy offensive battle with Brown howver can't overcome the Golden Eagles scoring in a 6- loss to JBU.

First Half       

John Brown scored the first goal of the match as the Golden Eagles took the lead at the 14-minute mark off a goal by Alejandro Ramirez. OCU's Jordan Da Costa took the only Stars shot in the first half before Ramirez cashed in another goal for the Golden Eagles as JBU went up 2-0 heading into halftime.  

Second Half   

Five minutes into the second half of play OCU took a foul inside the box giving the Stars a penalty try. Keita Kishino took the penalty kick and was successful with his third goal of the season to bring OCU to within one. Going into the 57th minute three goals were scored in the next four minutes of play as Oscar Carballo put Golden Eagles up 3-1, followed by Marco Alongi for OCU, and then finished off by Ramirez again to put JBU ahead 4-2. Down under 20 minutes to go the offense continued to pour in as Da Costa and Alongi both scored to tie the match 4-4. In the 79th minute, John Brown broke the tie as Erick Diaz got one to go off Jacob Zammaron's second assist of the game. Finally, Ramirez for the fourth time scored game clinching goal with under a minute to play as the Golden Eagles secured victory 6-4 in a heavy offensive battle.   

GAME NOTES   

  • John Brown took 25 shots total to lead the way in the match as the Golden Eagles took eight shots in the first half with 17 shots in the second half while having 11 shots on goal.  
  • Oklahoma City was limited to six shots with five goal attempts while having only one shot come in the first half with five in the second half.  
  • Marco Alongi took sole possession of the team lead in goals scored as Alongi notched two goals in today's contest to give him seven total for the season.  
  • Jordan Da Costa looked like he tied Alongi for the team lead before Alongi notched his second goal of the game. Da Costa scored his sixth goal of the season to be the second leading scorer.  
  • Keita Kishino cashed in his penalty kick as Kishino scored his third goal of the season.  
  • Oklahoma City gave up six goals for the second time this season previously coming in the loss to Ottawa (Ariz.) 6-3 back on Sept. 21.  
  • John Brown defeated OCU for the 10th time to go ahead in the all-time series. JBU takes a 10-9-1 lead and wins its fifth in a row over OCU.
