• OCU drubbed Panhandle State 79-67 on Thursday night in Goodwell, Okla. The Stars (6-7, 3-5 SAC) held an opponent below 35 percent shooting from the field (34.4 percent) for the fifth time in 2022-23 while putting together their first back-to-back wins of the season
• Fiona Wilson, a 5-foot-9 senior human performance major from Greenland, Ark., posted her fourth consecutive double-digit scoring performance with 15 points. She shot 6-for-11 from the floor. Wilson supplies Oklahoma City with 13.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.38 steals per contest this season
• Annilia Dawn, a 5-5 senior studying psychology from Amarillo, Texas, contributed 13 points, four rebounds and three steals. Her per-game scoring average comes out to 15.3 points a game over the last seven games. Dawn has produced 12.3 points and 3.2 assists a game this season
• The Stars took the seventh spot in the preseason Sooner Athletic Conference coaches poll. Oklahoma City has seized 20 SAC regular-season championships and 12 SAC Tournament titles. Oklahoma City owns 26 appearances in the NAIA Division I Championship Tournament with nine national championships won in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017 with four national runner-up finishes (2003, 2004, 2005, 2019)
• Oklahoma City owns a 40-33 edge vs. Wayland Baptist in the all-time series. Wayland Baptist won 94-64 on Feb. 5, 2022 in Plainview, Texas in the last meeting between the two schools

• John Brown (Ark.) derailed Wayland Baptist 68-61 on Thursday in Plainview, Texas. The Flying Queens (9-5, 5-3 SAC) gave up 12-for-28 shooting from 3-point range for the second highest number of treys hit by a Wayland Baptist opponent this season. Wayland Baptist saw its four-game winning streak halted
• Kaitlyn Edgemon, a 5-11 sophomore, had 21 points for Wayland Baptist's only double-digit scorer. Edgemon collected five steals and three blocked shots. She averages 16.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.57 steals per game in 2022-23
• SAC coaches named Wayland Baptist as the preseason favorite to win the conference
MEET THE COACHES
Kris Seigenthaler (first year at OCU)
• Kris Seigenthaler assumed the OCU head-coaching job after spending the last four years at Loyola (La.) as an assistant coach. Loyola made four national-tournament appearances with four 20-win seasons and twice sweeping the Southern States Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles
• Seigenthaler has had coaching stops as an assistant at Auburn University at Montgomery (Ala.), Faulkner (Ala.) and Shorter (Ga.). While at Auburn Montgomery, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association included Seigenthaler among its rising stars in the coaching profession on the Thirty Under 30 list.
• Seigenthaler began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Shorter following a playing career at the University of Montevallo (Ala.)
Jason Cooper (second season at WBU)
• Jason Cooper guided Wayland Baptist to a 33-4 mark with an appearance in the round of 16 in the NAIA Championship Tournament last season. The Flying Queens took the SAC regular-season and tournament championships
• Compiled a 413-133 record as a high school coach in West Texas. Led Sudan girls to 2009 Texas State Title
• Also an active coach in club and AAU basketball, claiming four national crowns and four more national runner-up titles
