BATESVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma City University rolled through the American Midwest Conference-Sooner Athletic Conference Duals undefeated on Saturday at Becknell Gymnasium.
Oklahoma City ripped Central Baptist (Ark.) 29-15, Lyon (Ark.) 35-15, Missouri Baptist 39-6 and Williams Baptist (Ark.) 40-12. The Stars improved to 11-6 in men's wrestling duals this season.
Connor Columbus, Keegan Luton, Kolbe Madron and Cade Manion went 4-0 for the Stars. Columbus, Madron and Cooper Mahaffey each posted two falls Saturday with Mahaffey collecting his falls in the least amount of time.
Mahaffey, a junior finance major from Yukon, Okla., delivered two falls by a combined time of 4:12 at 133 pounds. Mahaffey finished off Jacob Lawrinenko from Lyon in 18 seconds and Daryl Mills of Missouri Baptist in 3:54. Mahaffey had a 3-0 mark on the day.
Madron, a sophomore from Sulphur, Okla., studying marketing, pinned Williams Baptist's Kade Carter in 3:25 and Dominic Calvin of Missouri Baptist in 4:52 at 174 pounds. Columbus, a freshman business administration major from Yukon, Okla., completed the fall against Micah Oltmanns from Williams Baptist in 3:14 and pinned Hunter Atwell of Missouri Baptist in 5:45 at 184 pounds.
Luton, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., majoring in psychology, came through with three technical-fall victories at 149. Against Lyon, Luton crushed Clay Queen 21-6 in 3:58. Luton wiped out Missouri Baptist's Trentin Helton 17-2 in 4:08 and smashed Alejandro Mas of Central Baptist 19-2.
Manion, a sophomore criminal justice major from Edmond, Okla., came up with a fall against Isaiah Hendrix of Central Baptist in 4:41 at 141 pounds.
Against Missouri Baptist, OCU won seven matches and gained a forfeit, only surrendering a forfeit in the 197-pound match. Drake Vannoy of the Stars blanked Joel Campbell 8-0 at 157.
Oklahoma City finishes the regular season in the Missouri Valley Open at 9 a.m. Feb. 4 in Marshall, Mo.
