DENTON, Texas – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 35-8 victory over Texas Woman's on Monday evening at Kitty Magee Arena.
The Stars, ranked 15th in NAIA women's wrestling, posted five falls, their most since during the 2016-17 season. OCU closed its 2022-23 dual slate with a 6-3 record.
Oklahoma City previously collected five pins in a 43-0 win over Bacone on Dec. 8, 2016 at Abe Lemons Arena.
Destiny Lyng delivered OCU's fastest fall of the evening in the 143-pound contest. Sophia Smith at 130 pounds, Bryce White (136), Irene Sanchez (155) and Eseta Sepeni (191) racked up pins.
Lyng, a graduate student working towards a master's degree in non-profit leadership from La Mesa, Calif., pinned Pooma Babu in 1:08. Lyng, ranked sixth nationally at 143 pounds, improved to 11-6 this season.
Smith, a junior philosophy major from Janesville, Wis., finished the 130-pound match in 1:18, while Sanchez, a senior mathematics major from Madrid, Spain, ended the 155-pound contest in 1:35.
At 116, Avery Ashley from OCU dispatched of Mercedes Nerios 17-0 in 39 seconds. Ashley, a freshman from Lucas, Texas, scored two four-point moves.
Oklahoma City gets back onto the mat Feb. 4 in the Grand View Open in Des Moines, Iowa.
