CARROLLTON, Texas – Oklahoma City University finished the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational in third place Tuesday at Maridoe Golf Club.
Oklahoma City, ranked 11th in NAIA men's golf, ended up behind ninth-ranked Texas Wesleyan and third-rated Houston-Victoria.
Alex Bloxham, a freshman from Broken Arrow, Okla., led OCU with a tie for third individually.
The Stars turned in a scorecard of 310-298-317–925 on the par-72, 7,094-yard course. In his third collegiate competition, Bloxham posted a score of 74-69-81–224. His second-round score was tied for the second-best round on the day. Bloxham posted a total of six birdies throughout the competition with four of them coming in round two.
Will Fore came in 14th place for OCU with a score of 82-75-75– 232, going 16 over par. He provided nine birdies through the three rounds with two birdies coming back-to-back on Nos. 8 and 9 in round three. He went up nine spots from his day one standing. His 3 over par on the day led the Stars.
Leandro Mihaich finished tied for 20th, going 20 over par and a score of 78-74-84–236. He hit consecutive birdies on No. 5-7 in the second round and would finish with six birdies.
Ben Thionnet ended up tied for 26th going 80-80-79–239. He went up eight spots from his previous standing after rounds one and two. He provided the Stars with five birdies all in rounds two and three.
Tres Hill and
Cameron Lopez end the Stars team with a tie for 36th both going 26 over. There scorecards were similar throughout all three rounds with Hill posting a 78-82-82–242 and Lopez posting a score of 82-78-82–242. Lopez drained five birdies, and Hill drained three.
The Stars get back on the course on Sept. 26-27 in the Missouri Southern Invitational at the Shangri-La Golf Club & Resort. in Monkey Island, Okla.
