Stars knock off Texas Wesleyan 9-4

OCU faces Texas Wesleyan at 2 p.m. Sunday in SAC Tournament

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University took a 9-4 victory over Texas Wesleyan on Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium in the Sooner Athletic Conference baseball tournament. 

Evan Maun drove in four runs to pace the Stars. Oklahoma City, ranked fourth in the NAIA, meets Texas Wesleyan at 2 p.m. Sunday. OCU (45-4) needs one win to get to the SAC Tournament championship game. 

In the third inning, Maun launched a double to the left-center field wall with the bases full to knock in three runs, giving OCU a 5-0 advantage. 

Maun added another run for OCU with a base hit to left in the fifth. Chad Pike got the Stars going with a two-run double to left in the second. 

Dylan Taylor hammered a solo shot over the left-field wall to provide Oklahoma City a 7-0 lead in the sixth. Taylor, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., hit his second home run of the year. 

Maun, a senior from Greencastle, Pa., turned in a 3-for-5 performance with a double, run scored and four RBIs. OCU had five doubles hit by Maun, Pike, Peyton Crispin, Darian Luper and Frederic Walter

Eli Davis improved to 10-0 on the year. Davis, a junior left-hander from Shawnee, Okla., struck out seven in 6.2 innings. Davis allowed a run on three hits and a walk. Rylan Roberson pitched the final 2.1 innings.
