No. 4 Stars Rout Panhandle State In Regular Season Finale

OCU Ready To Host SAC Tournament

GOODWELL, Okla. - No. 4 ranked Oklahoma City University rolled to a 28-2 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday afternoon at Carroll Gribble Field in what was the regular season finale for both teams.
 
The 28-run output was the most runs scored by the Stars since a 30-5 win over Central Christian last season. OCU has scored in double-figures 23 times, scoring 20 or more runs three times.
 
OCU finishes the season with a 43-4 overall record and 22-2 Sooner Athletic Conference record, which is five games better than second place Science & Arts 17-5 conference mark. The outright conference regular season title is the first for OCU since 2017.
 
OCU will be the host and No. 1 seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament. That tournament will start next Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
 
The Stars finished with a season-high 26 hits in today's rout over the Aggies.
 
Senior center fielder Cross Factor finished with five hits, including his team-leading 25th home run, and six RBIs. Senior third baseman Darian Luper and senior designated hitter Cade Stephens finished with four hits and four RBIs apiece.
 
Luper started the scoring for the Stars with a one-out solo home run in the top of the first inning, it was his sixth homer of the season. Stephens hit his fourth homer of the season in the sixth inning, a two-run shot to increase the lead to 19-0.
 
Senior Tanner Sparks improved to 8-1 on the season after allowing one run on one hit with a season-high 12 strikeouts and no walks in 6.1 innings of work.
