Stars cruise to 42-3 win over Central Christian

Mahaffey, Zweifel grab falls for OCU

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University breezed past Central Christian (Kan.) 42-3 in a men's wrestling dual Monday at Abe Lemons Arena. 

Cooper Mahaffey and Trinit Zweifel sparked the Stars with falls. OCU (4-0) built a 30-0 advantage.  

Mahaffey, a junior from Yukon, Okla., completed the pin of Jakarion Fontenot in 1:37 in the 133-pound match. Mahaffey (5-2) posted his second fall of the season. Mahaffey pulled a reversal before finishing off Fontenot. 

Zweifel, a freshman from Enid, Okla., took down Alex Perez before finishing the fall in 2:06 at 141. Zweifel (6-3) delivered his fourth pin on the season. OCU led 12-0 through two matches. 

Hayden Brown and Kolbe Madron picked up victories for the Stars. Brown, a freshman from Tuttle, Okla., won 13-7 against Jerome Cannon in the 157-pound contest. Brown (8-1) racked up six takedowns. 

At 165, Madron took a 9-2 win vs. Vincent Ibarrra in his season debut. Madron, a sophomore from Sulphur, Okla., led 2-0 until recording a reversal and two takedowns in the third period. 

Oklahoma City notched four forfeits from Central Christian. Jarin Gomez had the only win for Central Christian in the 184-pound match against Connor Columbus

The Stars challenge three teams currently among the NAIA's top 25 in the Avila Eagle Duals on Dec. 17 in Kansas City, Mo. – No. 7 Ottawa (Kan.), No. 11 Campbellsville (Ky.) and No. 16 Baker (Kan.).
