ABOUT THE STARS
• OCU succumbed to Lubbock Christian (Texas) 74-65 in an exhibition matchup Saturday in Lubbock, Texas. The Stars (2-4, 0-2 SAC) sliced their deficit to 65-61 on Cacie Gorman's free throws with 5:46 remaining, but Lubbock Christian answered with a 9-0 run. OCU hit all 15 of its foul shots
• Cacie Gorman, a junior from Watonga, Okla., turned in 17 points and 11 rebounds while hitting 7 of 11 from the field. Gorman has provided Oklahoma City with 6.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.33 blocked shots per game this season
• Annilia Dawn, a senior from Amarillo, Texas, finished with 14 points and five assists. Dawn has posted 8.8 points and 2.0 assists a contest in 2022-23
• Oklahoma City's 74.0 percent free-throw percentage stands 36th within the NAIA on the season
• The Stars took the seventh spot in the preseason Sooner Athletic Conference coaches poll. Oklahoma City has seized 20 SAC regular-season championships and 12 SAC Tournament titles. Oklahoma City owns 26 appearances in the NAIA Division I Championship Tournament with nine national championships won in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017 with four national runner-up finishes (2003, 2004, 2005, 2019)
• The Stars collected an 88-68 victory on Jan. 22 in Langston, Okla., in the most recent meeting. Dawn posted 22 points
ABOUT THE LIONS
• Langston dominated Central Christian (Kan.) 101-50 in its last game Tuesday in Langston, Okla. The Lions (7-2, 2-1 SAC) reached 100 points for the first time since a 102-59 win against Central Christian on Feb. 22 in Langston, Okla.
• Hailey Jordan and Kameron Shelley led with 19 points each. Jordan, a 5-9 junior, had seven rebounds and two steals. She has averaged 16.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.00 steals per game in 2022-23
• Langston held the sixth slot in the SAC preseason poll
MEET THE COACHES
Kris Seigenthaler (first year at OCU)
• Kris Seignthaler assumed the OCU head-coaching job after spending the last four years at Loyola (La.) as an assistant coach. Loyola made four national-tournament appearances with four 20-win seasons and twice sweeping the Southern States Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles
• Seigenthaler has had coaching stops as an assistant at Auburn University at Montgomery (Ala.), Faulkner (Ala.) and Shorter (Ga.).
• While at Auburn Montgomery, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association included Seigenthaler among its rising stars in the coaching profession on the Thirty Under 30 list
• Seigenthaler began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Shorter following a playing career at the University of Montevallo (Ala.)
Kevin Herod (first year as at LU)
• Kevin Herod guided Talladega (Ala.) to a 171-68 record in eight seasons, giving him the most wins of any HBCU women's basketball coach in that span
• Talladega had a 21-12 mark in 2021-22, reaching the NAIA Championship Tournament and defeating Providence (Mont.), ranked 13th at the time, in the first round
• Herod led Talladega to its first ever Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship and became league coach of the year in 2016-17
