Three Stars place in Golden Norsemen Open

Holman pins foe in 10 seconds

MIAMI, Okla. – Oklahoma City University's Logan Chappell, Kolbe Madron and Drake Vannoy took fourth-place finishes in the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Golden Norsemen Open men's wrestling tournament at the NEO Student Activity Center. 

Connor Holman pinned Brandon Park from North Texas in 10 seconds for the quickest fall by a Star ever. Holman, a senior from Choctaw, Okla., surpassed Bryson McGowan's 11-second pin of James Moore from Quachita Baptist (Ark.) on Nov. 19, 2016 in the Lindenwood Joe Parisi Open. 

Chappell collected his top finish in an open tournament of his career. Chappell, a senior from Piedmont, Okla., went 3-2 on the day. Chappell pinned Northeastern A&M's Jocques DeGar in 1:02 to get to the third-place match at 133 pounds. 

Madron posted a 2-2 mark to come in fourth at 165 pounds. Madron, a freshman from Sulphur, Okla., pinned Iowa Western's Cole Price in 5:00. 

Vannoy put together a 4-2 record in the tournament in the 157-pound division. Vannoy, a sophomore from Jenks, Okla., pinned two opponents and won by technical fall. Vannoy finished off one of his falls in 27 seconds against Park. Vannoy is ranked 18th at 165 in the NAIA. 

OCU, ranked 17th in the NAIA, wrestles in the Missouri Valley Open at 9 a.m. Feb. 5 in Marshall, Mo.
