OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University defeated York College in dominating fashion on Thursday afternoon at Brian Harvey Field, turning in a 5-1 win over the visitors from Nebraska.
OCU (2-1) got the offense clicking early with senior
April Hill finding the back of the net in the seventh minute and sophomore
McLain Moss scoring in the 11th minute. Chailey Bollens cut the deficit to 2-1 when she scored for York (1-3) in the 18th minute but that is as close as the Panthers would get.
Sophomore
Madison Kemp pushed the Stars' lead to 3-1 when she punched in a ball that deflected off the York goalkeeper in the 31st minute. Senior
Millie Templeman increased the home team's lead to 4-1 when she connected on a left-to-right shot into the goal in the 35th minute.
The second half was uneventful until freshman
Jimena Martinez scored from 18 yards in the 89th minute.
OCU out-shot York 26-6, finishing with a decisive 14-4 edge in shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Grace Reese finished with three saves for the Stars.
OCU returns to action on Saturday with a home game against Randall. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
