WENTWORTH VILLAGE, Texas – Oklahoma City University topped the team leaderboard after two rounds of the Texas Intercollegiate on Monday at Hawks Creek Golf Club.
The Stars, ranked seventh in NAIA men's golf, owned a nine-stroke advantage through 36 holes. Dalton Daniel led OCU by tying for fourth place individually.
Oklahoma City carded a 287-285–572 on the par-72, 6,898-yard course, erasing a two-shot deficit after round 1. Second place went to Texas Wesleyan and Tyler (Texas). Texas Wesleyan held the fifth spot in the NAIA top 25 according to the Golf Coaches Association of America. Texas Wesleyan put together a 285-296–581.
Daniel, a senior from Newcastle, Okla., posted a 72-70–142. Daniel accrued eight birdies along the way.
OCU had three individuals among the field's top 10. Dylan Teeter held sixth after shooting a 71-72–143. Teeter, a freshman from Bixby, Okla., made 10 birdies. Will Fore registered a 78-68–146. Fore, a senior from Southlake, Texas, buried two eagles.
Tres Hill supplied the Stars with a 72-75–147. Hill, a freshman from Elk City, Okla., nailed seven birdies and an eagle. Jose Ramirez, a freshman out of Venezuela, turned in a 72-76–148 in his season debut for Oklahoma City. The Stars entered Bosten Benn (72-80–152) as an individual.
The Texas Intercollegiate finishes up with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday. The Stars will tee off on Nos. 10, 11 and 12.
