WESTWEGO, La. – Oklahoma City University fell to Keiser (Fla.) 8-0 on Monday at Segnette Field in the NAIA Baseball Championship Opening Round New Orleans Bracket.
Zach Mazur's RBI single broke up the scoreless tie in the fifth inning. The 20th-ranked Stars (33-18) meet Benedictine (Kan.) at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Denney Crabaugh will be seeking career victory No. 1,550. He has guided OCU to a 1,549-486-2 record in his 33rd year as head coach. Crabaugh stands fourth on the NAIA's all-time baseball coaching wins list.
Jake Patterson scattered 10 hits in five innings, giving up one run with two walks. Patterson, a senior left-hander from Ardmore, Okla., struck out five.
Pablo Arevalo limited OCU to six hits while fanning 14. The Stars suffered their first shutout loss since March 26.
Cross Factor went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
