2021 NAIA Women's Golf Championships Come to Oklahoma

NAIA relocates national tournament to Rose Creek Golf Club

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has moved the 2021 Women's Golf National Championships to Rose Creek Golf Club in Edmond, Okla., hosted by Oklahoma City University.
The NAIA Championships will be held May 25-28 at Rose Creek. The NAIA had set the tournament for Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, Mich., but the NAIA Championships have been moved due to concerns regarding the higher COVID-19 rates and corresponding restrictions on athletics events in the state of Michigan.
Oklahoma City University previously hosted the NAIA Championships on May 14-17, 2019 at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City. For information on sponsorship opportunities, please contact Chris Ma
xon, OCU associate athletic director for development at (405) 208-5431 or camaxon@okcu.edu.
"We are thrilled to be able to step in and host the 2021 Women's Golf National Championships," Oklahoma City athletic director Jim Abbott said. "Our past experience hosting and participating in golf championships prepares us well to put on a first class event, and we are excited to once again bring the nation's best female golfers to Oklahoma City."
Rose Creek Golf Club features a links-style layout designed by Arthur Hills. Fairways stretch through naturally rolling terrain, tree-lined creeks and native grasses. Over 50 strategically placed bunkers add extra beauty and challenge, while water comes into play on 12 holes. The course has previously hosted the NAIA Region VI women's golf championships in 2006 and '08 and the NAIA Region VI men's tournament in 2007.
Oklahoma City is home to the OCU Stars, a current member of the NAIA in the Sooner Athletic Conference. OCU currently sponsors 22 sports and boasts of 70 national championships in all sports. The Stars captured the NAIA competitive cheerleading championship in 2020-21. OCU has served as the host for several different national championships over the years. The NAIA women's golf championships will return to Lincoln Park on May 24-27, 2022.
In the 2019 NAIA Championships, the top nine teams matched or broke the previous national tournament record 72-hole score at Lincoln Park. British Columbia captured its fifth national title and first since 2012. The Stars, who own eight national titles in women's golf, finished fourth place.
The NAIA Women's Golf Championships is a four-round tournament consisting of a maximum of 156 golfers with a cut after 36 holes.
