McCoy leads OCU in SNU Invitational

Stars resume 2020-21 season at KickingBird Golf Course

EDMOND, Okla. – McKenzie McCoy turned in Oklahoma City University's top score in the Southern Nazarene Invitational on Monday at KickingBird Golf Course.
McCoy, a senior from Beggs, Okla., tied for 16th place individually after 18 holes. Oklahoma City, ranked 10th in NAIA women's golf, stood tied for seventh in the team standings in the Stars' return to the course for the spring.
In the first round, McCoy shot a 77 while making par 12 times on the par-70, 5,821-yard course. The Stars, the only NAIA entrant in the field, posted a 320 as a team. Central Oklahoma, ranked 25th in NCAA Division II, stood atop the leaderboard.
Natalie Gough of the Stars produced a 79 in her first action of the season. Gough, a junior from Bixby, Okla., made par 10 times Monday.
Clair Hill, a senior from Gig Harbor, Wash., supplied OCU with an 81, while Lauren Behnken, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., carded an 83.
The Stars' Rachel Eckert, a junior from Bixby, Okla., scored an 85, and Arianna Medina had a 91. Medina, a senior from Phoenix, played as an individual.
The last round of the tournament starts 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. OCU will tee off starting at 9:42 a.m. with its last golfer hitting the course at 10:24 a.m. Tuesday.
