OCU faces Texas Wesleyan in SAC Tournament

Stars play in quarterfinals 7 p.m. Thursday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University garnered the fourth seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament set to start Thursday with quarterfinal contests at each higher seed's home field.
The Stars (8-3) take on Texas Wesleyan at 7 p.m. Thursday at Brian Harvey Field.
Sofia Carvajal Granados, a junior from Bogota, Colombia, has supplied OCU with a team-leading eight goals, six assists and 22 points, while Madi Caputo, a junior from Broken Arrow, Okla., has produced four goals, five assists and 13 points.
Oklahoma City's Josie Knox, a junior from Edmond, Okla., has snared 34 saves with a 1.75 goals-against average. The Stars own six shutouts and opened the season 5-0 under Billy Martin, who is in his first season as OCU head coach. Four of those five season-opening victories were whitewashes.
The tournament semifinals take place April 5 with the championship April 8. The SAC Tournament champion collects a bid into the NAIA Championships, which start with the NAIA Championship Opening Round on April 15-17 at campus sites across the country.
Top-seeded John Brown (Ark.) squares off with Wayland Baptist (Texas) at Thursday at Alumni Field in Siloam Springs, Ark. The Golden Eagles, ranked 14th in the NAIA, rolled through league play undefeated for the second time in four years.
Science & Arts of Oklahoma has taken the past three SAC women's soccer tournament titles. The Drovers cruised to a 7-2 victory over Wayland Baptist for the league tournament crown Nov. 15, 2019 in Chickasha, Okla. Mackenzie Holub fueled USAO with a hat trick.
