Stars pick up win in Texas Showdown

Gough snares second career win at OCU

DALLAS – Oklahoma City University secured the win in the Texas Showdown on Tuesday at Cedar Crest Golf Club.
Oklahoma City, ranked 15th in NAIA women's golf, built a 35-shot margin of victory. The Stars' Natalie Gough landed the individual win.
The Stars became victorious for the second time this season. OCU carded a 321-322-312–955 on the par-71, 5,820-yard course. Marty McCauley snagged his 30th career victory as OCU coach.
Gough, a junior from Bixby, Okla., picked up her second career win with an 82-77-71–230. She clinched the win with the best round of the tournament. Gough nailed five birdies, including four on the back nine Tuesday. Gough's first win came in the Southwestern Christian Fall Invitational on Sept. 23-24, 2019 in Oklahoma City.
All six OCU golfers in the field finished among the top 10 of the tournament. Clair Hill, a senior from Gig Harbor, Wash., reeled in fourth place with a 76-85-80–241, and McKenzie McCoy, a senior from Beggs, Okla., posted an 81-81-83–245.
Lauren Behnken and Rachel Eckert of the Stars tied for seventh. Behnken, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., turned in an 82-88-78–248, while Eckert, a junior from Bixby, Okla., shot an 83-79-86–248. Arianna Medina, a senior from Phoenix, had an 84-86-88–258 entered as an individual.
OCU finishes the regular season in the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic on April 12-13 at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
