Stars meet USAO in SAC Tournament

Oklahoma City opens conference tournament play 7 p.m. Friday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University enters the Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer tournament as the No. 3 seed when the tournament opens with quarterfinals Friday.
Oklahoma City (7-2-2) faces USAO at 7 p.m. Friday at Brian Harvey Field.
OCU's Lucas de Freitas tops the conference with 1.27 goals and 2.64 points per match. De Freitas, a junior from São Paulo, Brazil, has turned in 14 goals, one assist and 29 points. Ljubisa Palic, a junior from St. Gallen, Switzerland, has added five goals, two assists and 12 points.
Danilo Vilani, a junior from Goiânia, Brazil, has directed four shutouts while snagging 38 saves and a 1.27 goals-against average. The Stars have earned five whitewashes. Billy Martin, in his first season as OCU head coach, directed the Stars to a 4-0-1 start.
The higher seed hosts each match throughout the tournament. The semifinals will be April 6 with the title bout April 9. The conference tournament champion reaches the NAIA Championships, which begin with the NAIA Championship Opening Round on April 22-24 on campus sites throughout the nation.
Top seed Southwestern Christian took the SAC regular-season title for the first time. The Eagles (11-1-3) meet Central Christian (Kan.) at Cagle Family Field in Bethany, Okla. Southwestern Christian captured its first SAC championship in any sport.
John Brown (Ark.) nipped Science & Arts of Oklahoma 1-0 in the SAC Tournament championship Nov. 16, 2019 in Siloam Springs, Ark. Kelvin Omondi scored in the 79th minute to propel the Golden Eagles to their first SAC Tournament title since 2002.
