Gough tops OCU in Lion Invitational

Lengthy weather delay causes tournament to be reduced to two rounds

TROPHY CLUB, Texas – Natalie Gough paced Oklahoma City University with a top-10 showing after 18 holes of the Texas A&M-Commerce Lion Invitational on Monday at the Trophy Club Country Club.
Gough, a junior from Bixby, Okla., tied for sixth place in the individual standings, sitting six strokes off the pace for OCU, ranked 11th in NAIA women's golf.
The tournament has been shortened to 36 holes after inclement weather halted play for three hours Monday afternoon. Lightning stopped the tournament at midday.
After one round, Gough turned in a 36-40–76 on the par-72, 6,075-yard Whitworth Course. Gough knocked in a birdie on the par-4, 370-yard second hole. The Stars posted a team score of 330. OCU stood 11th, ahead of four NCAA Division II teams.
Rachel Eckert, a junior from Bixby, Okla., produced a 41-43–84, while McKenzie McCoy supplied the Stars with a 42-42–84. McCoy, a senior from Beggs, Okla., sank a birdie on the par-3, 127-yard No. 3 hole.
OCU's Clair Hill, a senior from Gig Harbor, Wash., accrued a 44-42–86. Lauren Behnken, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., carded a 41-46–87.
The tournament continues with its final round 9 a.m. Tuesday.
