Stars enter SAC Tournament as No. 4 seed

14th-ranked OCU takes on Southwestern Christian at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University became the fourth seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball tournament, which begins Tuesday with quarterfinal action.
The Stars, ranked 14th in the NAIA, square off with Southwestern Christian (10-3) at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena. Oklahoma City finished the regular season 4-0.
Wayland Baptist (Texas) (10-0) split the SAC regular-season championship with Mid-America Christian. Also on Tuesday, top seed Wayland Baptist takes on Panhandle State (5-7), second-seeded Mid-America Christian (9-1) faces Langston (6-6) and No. 3 Science & Arts of Oklahoma (13-3) hosts John Brown (Ark.) (5-5).
All games in the tournament tip off on campus sites with the higher remaining seeded teams hosting. The semifinals take place Friday, Feb. 26, and the title game will be Monday, March 1.
Oklahoma City has won the SAC Tournament championship 12 times. The Stars reached the conference tournament title tilt for the sixth year in a row, but Wayland Baptist won 68-57 on March 7, 2020 in Plainview, Texas. Since 1998-99, OCU has reeled off an .884 winning percentage with a 681-89 record.
The tournament seeds were determined by the conference oversight committee.
