PLAINVIEW, Texas – Wayland Baptist clipped Oklahoma City University 1-0 in double overtime Saturday night at Hilliard Field in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament quarterfinals.
Bianca Roman scored the winning goal with 11 seconds showing on the clock. The Stars completed their season 9-8, while Wayland Baptist (11-4-1) reached the SAC Tournament semifinals.
Roman converted after Chloe Marmitt sent a long pass off her head. The match would have been decided in a penalty-kick shootout without the goal.
Kanade Morita of Wayland Baptist made three saves off OCU shots. Millie Templeman attempted a shot Morita saved early in the second overtime period. Ashton Seratte tried a header shot that Morita turned away in the 66th minute, while Madi Caputo's shot in the 27th minute was saved by Morita.
OCU had a 9-8 edge in shots and a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal. Josie Knox made one save in the second half.
