OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University suffered a 3-1 setback to Panhandle State on Tuesday at Brian Harvey Field.
OCU's Tommaso Belli produced his 14th goal of the year. The Stars went to 7-3, 1-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer this season.
Belli, a sophomore from Rome, staked the Stars to a 1-0 advantage in the 16th minute. Belli took a shot that Panhandle State goalkeeper Hugo Dutour saved, but the ball deflected off Dutour's hands. Belli nailed the ball into the net off the rebound. Belli holds a spot among the NAIA's leaders in goals this year.
Panhandle State tied the score 1-1 on Jesus Sosa's goal in the 26th minute. The contest remained deadlocked until the 65th minute, when Liam Pritchard scored to put Panhandle State in the lead.
The Aggies (7-1-1, 3-0 SAC) held a 16-14 edge in shots.
Oklahoma City takes on Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 5 p.m. Saturday in Plainview, Texas.
