Madonna knocks off Stars 3-2

Williams smacks fourth homer of year for OCU

LEBANON, Tenn. – Madonna (Mich.) rallied past Oklahoma City University 3-2 on Friday afternoon at Ernest L. Stockton Field-Woody Hunt Stadium.
Tyler Williams, a senior from Peoria, Ariz., crushed a home run for the Stars. Oklahoma City, ranked 10th in NAIA baseball, dropped to 5-3 on the season.
Noah Renaud accounted for the winning run. Renaud drove in a run with a base hit to center field with one out in the seventh inning.
Williams pounded a homer to left field for his fourth of the year. OCU led 2-1 in the fourth inning.
The Stars scored first in the third inning. Fredric Walter nailed a triple to center field leading off the inning. Garrett Horton brought him home as Madonna committed an error.
Madonna plated the tying run in the sixth. Alex Garbacik scored from first base by reaching third on Noah Moore's double, then advancing home on an error.
John Beuckalaere collected the victory for Madonna, while Tanner Sparks took the loss for OCU. Sparks took over on the mound in the sixth from starter Aaron McGeorge. Sparks got out of a one-out bases-loaded jam as the Stars pulled a double play.
Walter, a junior from Montigny, France, had a 2-for-3 day with a run scored for OCU. Peyton Crispin and Dalton Reed added hits for the Stars.
The Stars take on Madonna at 11 a.m., then Cumberland (Tenn.) at 3 p.m. Saturday in Lebanon, Tenn.
