Stars wipe out Olivet Nazarene 8-3

OCU needs one win to advance to NAIA Softball World Series

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University crushed Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) 8-3 on Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium in the NAIA Softball Championship Opening Round Oklahoma City Bracket.
OCU's bats came alive connecting on four home runs. The third-ranked Stars (56-6) will face 16th-ranked Olivet Nazarene at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the tournament championship.

OCU can secure an NAIA Softball World Series berth with a win. Oklahoma City will look for its 32nd World Series appearance.
Morgan McCallum, a junior from Mesquite, Texas, launched a solo home run to center in the second to put the Stars up 1-0.
ONU rallied for three runs in the third inning when Alli Davis doubled in Sara Beers, then Miranda Southall drove in Emily Carstens with a sacrifice fly. Davis came home on an infield single by Felicia Wacasey.
The Stars added a run in the fifth, three in the sixth and three in the seventh. Gaby Zucchiatti scored on a Jaci Smith sacrifice fly in the fifth. In the sixth, Zucchiatti uncorked a three-run home run off the top of the wall in right to give OCU a 5-3 advantage. Baileigh Loux and Brittany Perez connect with back-to-back jacks in the seventh. Loux, a sophomore from Reno, Nev., smashed a two-run shot to left-center driving in Smith and then Brittany Perez, a senior from Ventura, Calif., homered to left giving the Stars the 8-3 lead.
Kylie Dodson collected the win in relief improving to 26-2. Dodson, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., allowed two hits and struck out a batter over four innings. Jaden Shores, a junior from Blanchard, Okla., started and went three innings, surrendering three runs on seven hits. 
Zucchiatti, a junior from Millbrae, Calif., turned in a 3-for-3 game with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs for OCU. Loux, a sophomore from Reno, Nev., went 1-for-4 with three RBIs, a run scored and a home run, while Kennedy Jackson, a sophomore from Moore, Okla., was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
