OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University bested Southwestern Christian 4-2 on Saturday at Eagle Field.
Elliott Cary hammered a home run for OCU. The Stars, ranked eighth in NAIA baseball, won their first road game of the year to move to 17-2, 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
In the seventh inning, Peyton Crispin scored on a Caleb Davis squeeze bunt and Dylan Taylor drove in Dillon Goddard on a sacrifice fly to left field.
Bryson Lierle singled back through the box to drive in Tyler Williams in the eighth inning to put OCU out front 4-0.
Southwestern Christian, 15-6, 0-3 SAC, rallied in the bottom of the eighth when Parker Henderson tripled to left center to score Kelvin Fabian, while Taylor Thomas came home on a Bo Hoeffken single cutting the Stars lead to 4-2.
Cary, a senior from Edmond, Okla., went 2-for-5 with a homerun and an RBI, while Lierle, Davis and Taylor each drove in a run for OCU.
Brandon Goldston earned the victory to improve to 3-1 this year. Brandon Goldston, a junior right-hander from Leedey, Okla., struck out three and allowed four hits and a walk in eight innings. Tanner Andrews pitched a scoreless ninth to collect his first save of the season.
The Stars will travel to Chickasha to face No. 11 USAO at 6 p.m. at Bill Smith Ballpark.
