OCU takes 32-6 loss to Central Oklahoma

Sixth-ranked Stars fall to 5-1 in duals this season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Central Oklahoma knocked Oklahoma City University from the ranks of the unbeaten in a 32-6 win Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars, ranked sixth in NAIA men's wrestling, dropped to 5-1 in duals this season, while Central Oklahoma, rated 16th in NCAA Division II, improved to 2-0.
Jaxen Gilmore and Korey Walker accounted for Oklahoma City's victories. Montana Moon, Kaden Truelove and R.J. Walker of the Stars took their first losses of the season.
Gilmore, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., defeated Von Gray 9-4 in the 141-pound match. Gilmore collected a takedown and four-point near fall in the first period to key his victory. Gilmore, ranked 12th in NAIA at 141, added a third-period takedown. Gilmore went to 10-1 in 2019-20.
Walker, a senior from Midwest City, Okla., prevailed 7-3 over Garrett Beier in the 285-pound bout. Walker, ranked No. 2 among NAIA heavyweights, notched a first-period takedown, then wrapped up the win in the third with two additional takedowns. Walker upped his record to 4-2 on the season.
OCU competes next in the Wayland Baptist Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday in Plainview, Texas.
