Stars set to face off against Mid-America Christian in SAC Tournament

OCU finishes fifth in conference standings

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University will face off with Mid-America Christian at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament quarterfinals at Evangel Field. 
The Stars (9-8, 5-4 SAC) finished conference play in fifth place, winning one of their final two road matches over Wayland Baptist (Texas) to secure the spot. OCU hosted Mid-America Christian in the 2018 SAC Tournament quarterfinals, etching out a 4-1 victory at Stars Field. The Evangels defeated Oklahoma City 3-2 in double overtime on Oct. 26, scoring the game-winning goal with 37 seconds remaining to escape with three standings points. 
OCU ended conference play with a winning record for the fifth consecutive season, recording victories against Southwestern Christian, Panhandle State, Central Christian (Kan.), Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) and Wayland Baptist. Madi Caputo, a sophomore from Broken Arrow, Okla., ranks sixth in the SAC in goals (11) and seventh in points (27). She leads the Stars in both categories. Caputo is also tied for first in game winning goals, collecting six on the season. 
Nadine Steiner, a freshman from Mutlangen, Germany, ranks fifth in the conference in goals against average (1.75). Steiner has picked up three shutouts this season and earned SAC defensive player of the week for Aug. 26-Sept. 1. Caputo and Rachel Brantley, a senior from Broken Arrow, Okla., each have five assists to lead Oklahoma City. 
Brian Harvey owns a 379-129-27 record coaching OCU's women's program through 26 years. Harvey collected his 800th career win in the women's season opener 3-0 against Houston-Victoria on Aug. 31 in Victoria, Texas. Harvey has a combined men's and women's college mark of 814-340-70 in 34 years. Harvey has led OCU to five women's conference tournament crowns, the last coming in 2012.
The SAC Tournament champion advances to the NAIA Championships. The NAIA Championship Opening Round will be at campus sites around the country Nov. 23 and the NAIA Championships will be played Dec. 2-7 in Orange Beach, Ala.
