OCU blows out Keiser 89-52

Stars shoot 58 percent from the field

SAN ANTONIO – Mallory Lockhart overwhelmed Keiser (Fla.) for her third 20-point performance of the season to lead Oklahoma City University to an 89-52 victory Friday afternoon at Mabee Gymnasium in the Our Lady of the Lake Classic.
The Stars finished 29-of-50 from the floor, shooting over 50 percent for the second time this season. OCU is shooting 47.9 from the floor through their first seven games. The Stars, ranked third in NAIA Division I women's basketball, improved to 7-0 on the season.
Lockhart, a sophomore from Keller, Texas, pulled down two rebounds and a steal to go with her 20 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor and a perfect 5-of-5 performance from the charity stripe in 32 minutes on the floor. Jaelyn Knight, a freshman from Georgetown, Texas, added 14 points and six rebounds off the bench while shooting 3-of-5 from the floor and 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Keiser had the game tied, 18-18, at the end of the first quarter, with the lead going back-and-forth in the first 10 minutes. OCU took the lead for good at the 7:28 mark in the second quarter on a Shamika Smith jumper. The Stars outscored the Seahawks 25-7 in the second quarter, and 46-27 in the second half.
OCU dominated after the first period, thanks in large part to a 38-9 advantage in points off turnovers and a 44-3 advantage in bench scoring. The Stars forced the Seahawks into 26 turnovers, while committing only 13.
Smith, a senior from Midwest City, Okla., added 13 points, five assists, three steals and three blocks while shooting 5-of-5 from the field. Abby Selzer, a sophomore from Thomas, Okla., added 12 points, three rebounds and block, while Erika Ankney, a sophomore from Harrah, Okla., contributed 11 points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Oklahoma City plays next against sixth-ranked Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) at 2 p.m. Saturday in San Antonio in their second game of the Our Lady of the Lake Classic.
