THE MATCHUPS

• Oklahoma City University returns to non-conference action in the Our Lady of the Lake Halo Classic
• The Stars meet Keiser (Fla.) at 2 p.m. Friday
• Another matchup with a top 10-ranked team looms for OCU when the Stars take on Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) at 2 p.m. Saturday
 
ABOUT THE STARS
• Oklahoma City prevailed over fifth-ranked Wayland Baptist (Texas) 70-46 on Saturday in a matchup of the top two teams in the preseason Sooner Athletic Conference poll. The Stars (6-0) limited Wayland Baptist to its season low in points
• Abby Selzer, a 6-foot-2 sophomore from Thomas, Okla., generated 14 points, three rebounds and two blocked shots in 13 minutes of action. Selzer shot 5-for-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. Selzer provides OCU with 15.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 62.5 percent from the floor
• Erika Ankney, a 5-9 sophomore from Harrah, Okla., put together 13 points, six rebounds and two assists. Ankney turns in 9.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.67 steals per game
• The Stars lead NAIA Division I with 22.3 assists per game, while Mallory Lockhart has sank 4.67 3-pointers per game to pace the NAIA. To see how the Stars rank among the nation's statistical leaders, click here
• Oklahoma City sits at third in the preseason NAIA Division I rankings. The Stars reached the NAIA Tournament for the 22nd consecutive year and for the 25th time overall last season. OCU has captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017
• OCU was chosen tied for first in the SAC preseason coaches' poll. The Stars took their 19th SAC regular-season championship last season
• Oklahoma City faces Keiser for the first time
• The Stars dropped an 89-81 decision to Our Lady of the Lake on Nov. 17, 2018 at Abe Lemons Arena. Lockhart spearheaded OCU's rally attempt with 18 points. The Stars hold a 4-3 advantage in the overall series vs. Our Lady of the Lake
 
ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS
• Keiser suffered a 75-72 setback to Johnson & Wales (Fla.) on Nov. 23 in North Miami, Fla. Keiser (3-3, 1-1 The Sun Conference) cut its deficit to 73-72 on Antigonie Sanabria's trey with 20 seconds to go, but Johnson & Wales pulled out the win with a pair of throws
• Emily Patton, a 5-8 junior, keyed Keiser with 21 points, five rebounds and three assists. Patton averages 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game
• Keiser ranks seventh in NAIA Division II this season with 17.2 offensive rebounds per game
• The Seahawks were projected to finish sixth in The Sun Conference according to its preseason poll
 
ABOUT THE SAINTS
• Our Lady of the Lake fell 85-68 to fourth-ranked The Master's (Calif.) on Nov. 23 in the Westmont Classic at Santa Barbara, Calif. The Saints (2-3) have lost three in a row all to top 10-ranked teams
• Kasey Saldana, a 5-3 senior, had 16 points for Our Lady of the Lake. Saldana picks up 14.6 points and 2.0 rebounds a contest
• Our Lady of the Lake hits its free throws at a 77.3 percent clip to rank seventh nationally
• Red River Athletic Conference coaches installed Our Lady of the Lake as the preseason favorite within their league
 
MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (121-22, fifth season with OCU)
• Led Stars to a 33-5 season with the SAC regular-season crown and an NAIA DI tournament championship trip in 2018-19
• Overton has coached four all-Americans while at OCU, including Daniela Wallen, the 2017 NAIA DI player of the year, and Daniela Galindo, the 2018 WBCA NAIA player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympic games
• From 1998-2004, Overton served as an assistant for Oklahoma. The Sooners made five NCAA Tournament appearances during that time, with a 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth. He also earned three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament championships throughout his six years
• He has an overall record coaching college women of 143-69 in seven years as a head coach
 
Pam Oswald (57-68, fifth season with Keiser)
• Became The Sun Conference coach of the year after leading Keiser to an 19-11 record and an 11-5 conference mark in 2016-17
• Overall head-coaching record of 144-197 including an eight-year stint at Tiffin (Ohio)
• Member of the Malone (Ohio) Athletic Hall of Fame
 
Stacy Stephens (first season with Our Lady of the Lake)
• Stacy Stephens was elevated to the head-coaching position in June once previous head coach Christopher Minner became an assistant at North Texas
• Stephens spent two years as assistant to Minner after three years as an assistant at Sam Houston State
• Stephens became a two-time all-Big 12 performer, all-American and finalist for the Wade Trophy while playing for Texas from 2000-04. She will be inducted into the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches High School Basketball Hall of Fame in May after her standout career at Winnsboro (Texas)
